To stay competitive, today’s manufacturing industry must be more flexible than ever — handling low-volume, high-variability production with ease. How does it relate to 5G URLLC and Wifi?
Wi-Fi can offer very low average latencies, in ideal circumstances. But it has no robust mechanisms to guarantee a bounded latency. Latency spikes can completely disrupt industrial control protocols such as Profinet or Profisafe.
5G, on the other hand, has URLLC defined in the standard, but not implemented in real offerings and chipsets. It also requires dedicated, licensed spectrum to guarantee low latency.
Better than Wired offers URLCC by design, in license-free bands and in coexistence with other wireless technologies such as WiFi. Click here to read more about our technology.
